Term 3 Week 6

Our most recent weekend activity has been to 1Utama Mall where the boarders tried their hand at softball in the batting cages. On the roof of the mall were seven cages, all with an automatic ball shooter. The boarders selected the speed and the height of balls being pitched towards them with the aim of hitting the ball back into the cage. While the boys got stuck in with the batting, the girls all decided that shopping was more their thing, so they went to the mall with Ms Xin to get their fix.

The older boys tried out the baseball cages and were getting some impressive hits in on the smaller and faster balls, whereas the younger boys enjoyed hitting the bigger softballs as far as they could. Kim Minsoung proved to be a natural at the sport by connecting bat and ball on most occasions.
We finished off the afternoon with a couple of hours free time in the mall, most of the boarders went to eat together or got themselves a drink before the drive back to the boarding house.

The boarding house was one of the many features observed by visitors at the ‘Nexus Launch’ recently. Members of the media as well as the community visited the impressive facilities that we have here in boarding.

Thank you to boarders and staff who contributed to the successful advertising of Nexus.

Many of us attended the Young Performers Concert before the mid-term break and the talent of young musicians in the school is amazing. Year 9 boarder Dening who was a member of a trio, played the violin superbly in his groups performance of Arrival to Earth.
