The laser tag battle
Nexus boarders started the year with their first weekend activity playing laser tag at Berjaya Times Square. It was an exciting experience filled with suspense and action. Those who attended were put into teams as they tried to score the most points collectively by making more effective shots with their laser guns than their opposition.

Indoor Football Competition
On Tuesday evening after six weeks of round-robin play, the final of our Indoor Football Competition took place between Team Toa and Tristan’s Young Bucks.

Family Fun Day
Boarders who stayed in last weekend all attended the Family Fun Day. The Boarding Council, led by Aisya organised face painting, petanque and frisbee throwing, and it was pleasing to see Zoe, Fatimah, Melinda, Aisya, Alia and Ayman entertain everybody by busking throughout the morning.

On Saturday morning, many of our boarders enjoyed a bit of ‘down time’. Some chose to play basketball, others enjoyed time spent watching films with their friends, whilst a few used the fitness suite. Those wanting some fresh air joined Ms Gill on a walk to the village to pick up some things from the shops.

Last weekend was quite an active one in the boarding house. The weekend started off with people enjoying working out in the fitness suite whilst our Year 11’s chose to revise in preparation for the upcoming mock exams.

Last Saturday, children from Rumah Keluarga Kami visited us for an action packed day of fun activities. Many of our own took responsibility for organising games of indoor football and basketball as well as slime making, baking, Just Dance and playing board games together.

Saturday was a rainy day but it didn’t dampen our spirits in boarding. The long weekend started with lots of our boarders choosing to enjoy some exercise. The fitness suite was used by some of our senior boarders whilst the others took to the sports hall to play badminton and basketball in the morning.

In conjunction with Mental Health Week, boarders and staff have focused on mental awareness and what we can do to support ourselves and others when we are finding things difficult from time to time. Houseparents held mindful meditation for their respective floors after prep which proved valuable for all to relax and clear our mind.
