Term 3 Week 11
On Saturday, the boarders went Water Tubing on Putrajaya Lake. On arrival we we greeted with good weather, a load of life jackets and a quick safety briefing from the manager. We had a few hours to take turns on the tube, three at a time. The drivers started off slowly, and to begin with the boarders fell off pretty easily! On board, lots of selfies were being taken, a lot of discussion on tactics on how to stay on for longer.
After everyone had their first go on the tube, the driver increased the speed a little and made the ride more unstable for the tubers. Ayla, Shaq and Dhrrithi jumped on the tube, they were half way through a long but bumpy straight, when they decided that they were all going to swap positions. So after much shouting, Ayla jumped over Dhrrithi, Dhrrithi rolled to the right, Shaq then jumped over the both of them - success! They had accomplished probably the worlds most challenging musical chairs game.
It was a fun and eventful afternoon enjoyed by all.
Sadly, a member of the Nexus boarding staff, Ms Hayley is leaving to study in Egypt. We held a special dinner in the Boarding House to celebrate her time here in Nexus Boarding. We also celebrated Mr Troy’s birthday with a scrumptious cake.
Year 12 boarder Georgia said some kind words in a farewell speech to Ms Hayley and then Ms Hayley finished of the evening with a motivating speech, encouraging the boarders to continue to demand the most from their lives, take advantage of every opportunity given and not to lose sight of what they wish to accomplish in life. We all wish Ms Hayley well.
