Term 2 Week 10
Archery Tag & Zorb Ball
On Saturday, the boarders took a trip to the Sports Garage in Petaling Jaya. We were participating in Zorb Football and Archery Tag. Archery Tag is a completely new activity to be added to the boarding growing list of fun things to do at the weekends and Mr Jason and Mr Alex drove to the Sport Garage where we were met by Rod, our instructor. He talked us through the archery, how to hold the bow and nock the sponge tipped arrows, teaching us how to aim, giving us all ample time to get used to this relatively tricky skill.
We were then split into 4 teams, 6 vs 6 people, with the aim of getting the other team out by hitting them with arrows or by knocking all of their targets out. Michael and Reena just dominated the game; it was clear their tactics were the best; to just be brave and get as close to the other teams target and fire as many arrows as possible until they were all out. Very impressive!
The Zorbing Football is something we have done before at Nexus, so some most were well rehearsed at getting in and out of the balls, falling over in them, and then correcting oneself once they had fallen over. We played a couple matches, in which the ball was predominantly neglected and knocking each other over became the main focus of the ten minute games.
Overall, the day was a success with everybody having had a great time.
Year 7 - 9 LLC
It was pleasing to see parents, guardians and even houseparents attend Learner Led Conferences last week. The learners were required to explain what they have been learning this term in all subjects. This gives houseparents especially, an insight and understanding of what the boarders are revising or studying during prep in the evenings.
