Term 1 Week 6
Due to the Exit Weekend there was no activity held however throughout the week, evening activities continue to be popular in regards to participation from the boarder’s. The sports hall continues to be occupied for the Indoor Football Competition on Monday nights. On Tuesday and Thursday the boarders have the opportunity to play either basketball or badminton. Ms Scout supervises those who wish to relax (or play) in the swimming pool for an evening swim. We also had Ms Maria visit us on Wednesday after our prep session, to instruct Zumba for the girls. We hope that Zumba will continue to be a regular midweek evening occurrence.
Dhruvi, Dhrrithi, Icha and Agnia represent Nexus in the semi-finals of the KLISS Secondary Schools’ Girls Football Competition and the entire team were outstanding, recording two wins and a draw. The team have qualified for the finals later on in the year. Well done girls!!
We have introduced a new initiative during prep in the evenings with our EAL boarders having a specialised time slot to study and practise improving their understanding of the English language. This is already proving to be extremely beneficial for all involved.
Mr Troy attended the 2016 Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA) National Conference last week. It was a worthwhile exercise networking with fellow colleagues about how other boarding houses function in Australasia and South-East Asia, as well as listening to speakers talk about a variety of subjects which related to the theme of the conference ‘Creating the Future for Boarding Schools.’ Mr Troy and Ms Bobby were also acknowledged for over ten years of service in boarding schools by the Boarding School Association.
