Jumpstreet Trampoline Park
On Saturday over forty boarders visited Jumpstreet Trampoline Park, an indoor arena comprising of numerous interconnecting trampolines. There were different activities that we could partake in, the most popular being free jumping into the ‘foam pit’ and slam dunking basketballs into the basketball hoop. The highlight for everybody however was the game of dodgeball that concluded the afternoon. There were some illegal throws at times, but all was played in good spirits.
International Award
On the 12th of November, a group of senior learners embarked on their practise journey through a five day sailing trip for the International Award Gold Practise. The trip started early Saturday morning in the Royal Selangor Yacht Club. There we had spent the first day learning about the ins and outs of the boat, how to sail, tie the proper knots, how to deal with a medical emergency, how to deal with boat-related emergencies, and basic information on how to sail. We then ended the day with a cozy sleep on a 40 foot long boat.
The following day was when we finally began the sailing. It was definitely a challenge, but it was one met with a very positive attitude by everyone in our team. This was helped by the fact that the we found the action of sailing and being responsible for the different tasks on the boat to a very enjoyable experience. This stems from an opportunity to take on the different tasks each with the full responsibility of yacht and our own well being. For example, there were four roles to fulfil whilst sailing. You could be captain, a wincher, a spotter or a navigator. They are all fun and very different on an individual basis, however they are all integral to the sum of function on the boat. Each day was met with 6-8 hours of sailing with everyone having the opportunity to experience all the different roles and responsibilities.
After a long tiring day of sailing, sitting down and eating dinner as a team was our only solace, knowing that tomorrow morning, we would have to cook breakfast, prepare lunch and get ready to do all we had done on the previous day, all over again.

Saradha Laskhmi Arangetram
On Sunday, Year 12 boarder Saradha performed in her Arangetram, which is the debut on-stage performance of Indian classical dance and music. This first performance follows years of training, and a group of us girls as well as Ms Scout and Ms Bobby were there to support her. On arrival we were welcomed and were greeted by Saradha’s little brothers who were hosting the evening. Saradha’s first performance was Ganesha Stuti which is a dance to praise the lord Ganesha for a successful arangetram. This was followed by the Jatiswaram which was a melody without words, the Sabdam where the dancer render composition with words and the fourth was called Varnam Varnam is the piece de resistance in Bharathanatyam. An intermission followed where all visitors were treated to Indian cuisine and refreshments. Saradha did more great dances for the audience and what amazed us all was her incredible stamina to perform so effortlessly. It was a fabulous evening and we were so proud of Saradha.
