I am so looking forward to meeting our Boarders and the residential team and continuing the great work Nexus has done in making a home for some of our learners. All of my teaching life has been in Boarding, firstly in Australia at Kormilda College in Darwin and Frensham School in New South Wales.
More recently, for the last four years, as DOB for TH Schools in Hanoi where we built the first international standard Boarding school in Vietnam. I look forward to bringing enthusiasm to the role and to building an ideal home away from home for all of us living on campus.
Due to Covid and travel restrictions I have enjoyed working back in the UK this year where I am currently working as an ESOL lecturer for adult migrants and refugees. It has been a great challenge to be back in the classroom and doing something positive to help people.
In my spare time, I walk and hike, enjoying the start of some milder UK weather - as I will be joining you all from a rainy Yorkshire, it will feel like a very warm welcome when I arrive.
When the weather is too bad to be outside you will find me with a pile of books - as an English teacher I suppose that is to be expected. I’m hoping to find a book club or reading club to join or to start one if we need it.
I’m looking forward to planning some Malaysian travel when time permits and would love to hear recommendations from all the current staff for places to add to my travel list.
